Winter Reset: Keeping It Short and Sweet
I don’t know about anyone else, but after this past weekend, I know I need to focus on myself, and myself only. Happy holidays, everyone. If you’re anything like me, it’s time for a little winter mental reset. After this Halloweekend, a lot has changed in my life. People come, people go. We find ourselves in new places, doing new things, it’s all a lot. But one thing that can stay consistent is my mindset and my habits. So, with that being said this week I'm hitting pause, and focusing on the things that make me feel like me again.
First things first: walking. I don’t think I’ve ever loved anything more. It’s something I used to do all the time back home, and lately, I’ve been trying to bring it back into my routine. Even now that the weather’s getting colder, there’s something about bundling up, stepping outside, and just walking, no distractions, no noise, just me and my thoughts. It gives me such peace of mind and reminds me how good it feels to be alone with myself. It’s funny how something as simple as walking can remind you how important it is to take care of yourself in other ways too. For example, after my walks, I’ve started sitting on my floor and stretching whatever feels tight or tense. It became a habit so naturally, just one of those things that makes me feel good, so I kept doing it without even thinking. Little habits like this are exactly what my winter reset is about, tuning into what my mind and body actually need.
The next part of my winter reset is journaling. Every night, I write down how I feel, whether it’s good, bad, or somewhere in between. There’s something about seeing my thoughts on paper that makes them easier to process. It’s like untangling everything in my head just one sentence at a time. Journaling has quickly become one of my favorite rituals for clearing my mind. After I finish journaling, I love putting on music or creating a new playlist, it’s like giving myself a clean slate through sound. There’s something so refreshing about it, like starting over in the best way. And then, of course, a little Pinterest scroll before bed. It always leaves me feeling inspired and content, surrounded by images and ideas that remind me of what I love.
At the end of the day, this winter reset is really about the simple things, walking, journaling, music, or scrolling through Pinterest, that help me feel grounded and like myself again. Life is always changing around us, and it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos, but focusing on these small habits reminds me to slow down and take care of my mind and body. Sometimes the best resets are the simplest ones, and that’s exactly why I’m keeping this post short and sweet, just like my little winter reset.
